A Late Review of “Superman Returns”

Posted in Movies on July 25th, 2006

Yeah, yeah, yeah. It’s almost a month ago when it was released at ngayon ko lang mare-review. This “review” (just like any other reviews I have) is actually my thoughts about the movie. (I don’t consider myself as a good reviewer nor a movie critic.) So what took me so long? Well, it doesn’t matter. Baka kasi mawala na sa sine once ipalabas na ang “Sukob” and “The Break Up” this Wednesday.

Local Horror Genre

Posted in Movies on July 3rd, 2006

If I were to become a filmmaker, I’ll start with a horror film. When I say ‘horror’, I mean movies in the likes of ‘Final Destination‘, ‘Saw‘ and ‘Hostel‘ and not local horror films like ‘Bahay ni Lola’ etc where the main attractions are ghosts, monsters and white ladies copied from Japanese horror movies.

If given a chance, I’ll start with a zombie film filled with litters of blood and human intestines. (Yeah, I like gory movies more than those ‘ghost’ flicks.)

Remember, LOTR director Peter Jackson started his film career in this genre. And now I wanted to revolutionize our local horror movies into something controversial that any Filipino would like to see out of curiosity.

I’d like to cast Judy Ann, Jolina, or even Sugar from Eat Bulaga and other celebrities that most people will pay to see those actors’ head to be crushed by a truck, rip their arms off thru a chainsaw, expose their internal organs or be eaten alive by zombies. (I’d like to see Ethel Booba’s boobs to burst into flames too…)

Now, that’s cool to watch…especially on the big screen….

End Credits Phenomenon

Posted in Entertainment, Movies on July 1st, 2006

Wala kasi akong kasama, time at pera. Walang traffic. Walang ding jeep kasi nakatutok lahat sa TV. Hehehe..

Gusto ko lang i-verify sa inyo kung meron kayong nararamdamang kakaiba when watching the end credits of a film. Read more »

New LOTR DVD’s coming up (again?)

Posted in Movies on June 23rd, 2006

What???

Panu yun? Baka pumangit quality?

At ano yung seamless branching?

Home Video Reviews (June)

Posted in Movies on June 21st, 2006

Here are the short reviews of movies that I saw some weeks ago in home video.

Saw IIBrokeback MountainWallace and Gromit

Saw II
I like the first one so I rented this but I have to say that the first Saw is still better. The only reason I’m into this is the gore and the twist at the end of the movie plus a chance to see Jigsaw longer than the first one. 6/10.

FlightPlan
This is a thriller that spends half of the movie looking for a child. And when I found out where Jodie Foster’s daughter is, I’m not surprised nor intrigued. Typical conspiracy ek ek. BTW, Sean Bean (Boromir in LOTR) is here too! For me, Red Eye is still the best ‘airplane’ thriller with strong performances from Cillian Murphy and Rachel McAdams. 6/10.

“X-Men: The Last Stand” Movie Review

Posted in Movies on June 5th, 2006

I’ve just received the last half of my allowance from my practicum in Accenture and I’m very delightful that it’s P1000 higher than the last. Hehe. So, Lani and I watched X-Men!!!

I had this dream yesterday that I watched X3 in a theater and after just 1 minute, the movie ends without a single hint of any mutants whatsoever. I was very devastated. Siguro I just worry so much and I thought this last X-Men movie will disappoint.
But thank god and it didn’t. It’s highly entartaining. This is the movie that defines what a summer blockbuster season should be. It’s really worth the admission ticket not like *frowns* the “Da Vinci Code”. Read more »
