FILMMAKER WANNABE

Posted in About Me, Entertainment, Movies on April 16th, 2005
Matagal ko nang gustong maging filmmaker. Gusto kong makatulong sa bayan. Minsan nagde-daydream ako na through this one movie (my movie), maiaangat ko ang film industry sa bansa. Sabi ng sa Time Magazine, most profitable product of the 21st Century ay movies. In fact, Film and Audio Visual Communication dapat ang kukunin ko sa UP. Upon seeing Godzilla back in 1998 (Grade 5 or 6 pa lang yata ako) , nabuo na sa isip ko na sana makagawa rin ako ng ganung movie. In fact, me and my friend made a Godzilla animations in blank notebooks. Basta parang flipbook siya and we created 4 notebooks just depicting how Godzilla destroys the whole city. I love special effects movies. I like disaster films. At that time, uso pa naman yung mga disaster films like ID4, Deep Impact, Armageddon etc. Dati pag nagmumuni ako sa sasakyan, I make disaster films on my own mind. Sayang ako lang ang nakakita. Sana nakapagimbento ako ng machine that maps the visual imaginations of the brain. Sarap sirain ng Makati at Alabang. After Lord of the Rings, nag-iba na ang pananaw ko sa buhay. The Godzilla film is a total crap. That’s why critics hated it. It’s just a showcase of special effects. Read more »

PINOY SOAP OPERAS…

Posted in Television, Entertainment on March 31st, 2005
My mother is so addicted to this soap in ABS….Kahit naiinis na siya sa kwento at mga nangayayri sa “Hiram” pinapanood niya pa rin.
10. Pag akala mo patay na ang kontrabida, there is always a way para mabuhay siya (para maghigante)
13. Lahat ng mayaman, naka-make-up at nakapang-alis kahit nasa bahay.
14. Laging mayaman at mahirap ang involved.
15. Laging tungkol sa nawawalang anak, nanay. Anak sa labas, ampon, kabit at ex-wife…

Keep the list growing!

GAME KA NA BA?

Posted in Television, Entertainment on March 28th, 2005
One of my favorite shows. I admit it. Minsan nga parang gusto kong maging studio contestant e. Kaso mahirap talaga yung ibang tanong lalo sa First Round ng Elimination. Swertehan lang. Malas mo pag di mo talaga alam yung sagot. Minsan napasimple ng tanong. Common sense lang kailangan. 77th Academy Awards

Posted in Entertainment, Movies on March 8th, 2005

This is the first Oscar in 3 years without LOTR on the nominations list.
The visual effects team of Spiderman 2 said in their acceptance speech that they thank God because there is no Lord of the Rings movie this year because “LOTR 4″ might get the Visual Effects Oscar. At least they were given a chance this year now that LOTR is gone.
God! I missed those days with LOTR on the Oscar!

BTW, some LOTR stars were there like Orlando Bloom (Legolas)? who presents an Oscar and the very beautiful Cate Blanchett (Galadriel)? winning Best Supporting Actress for her portaryal of Katherine Hepburn in The Aviator.

The opening video introduction were not like last year’s (with Billy Crystal spoofed the nominated movies), I was disappointed. Maybe there’s no time for that production because they got Chris Rock to host just weeks before the show. I’m glad LOTR clips are on that video together with the score from Howard Shore….

Speaking of Howard Shore…he wasn’t even nominated for Best Original Score for The Aviator even though he already won the Golden Globe for Original Score. He was disqualified because there are some rules in the Academy that it didnt follow.? He was also disqualified 2 years ago for the soundtrack of The Two Towers because some of the tracks in the OST were written previously for the Fellowship of the Ring. They regretted not giving Shore an Oscar for TTT so they trashed that stupid rule because they have to admit that TTT’s score was brilliant. And so Shore won again for ROTK.

I think Clint Eastwood won the Best Director Oscar because the Academy regretted giving him the award for Mystic River last year beacuse they gave it to Peter Jackson.
I haven’t seen any of the Best Picture nominees but I’d love to see The Aviator and Million Dollar Baby on video. Not to forget Eternal Sunshine for a Spotless Mind…
I hope Peter Jackson scores again next year for his remake of King Kong…
OMG! Scarlett Johansson is also there. She’s gorgeous….

MOVIE REVIEWS: KILL BILL Vol.2 / SHREK 2

Posted in Entertainment, Movies on November 10th, 2004
I saw some movies these past few weeks but some are forgettable that’s why I can’t remember what are those movies. All I know is that, I saw Kill Bill Vol. 2 and Shrek 2.p>

Okay. Let’s get started on Kill Bill. I don’t want any introduction like movie plots because personally, I hate those parts of any movie reviews. I always skip on that part. Anyway, what can I say on Vol. 2 is that it has less action than the first Volume. This may dissappoint some audience since some people watch Kill Bill just to see Uma Thurman kick ass.
I was somehow dissappointed on how Uma (The Bride) kills Bill.? I thought it’s gonna be like a 10-minute showdown. But I was wrong. Bill and Uma just talked for about 15-minutes and then after Uma says “You and I have unfinished business…”, after 10 seconds, nadale na niya si Bill. Isn’t that simple. But Bill is still alive after that 10 seconds. I’m not gonna spoil the ending for those who haven’t watch it. The ending was great. It was a very different climax from Tarantino (director). After the movie, I realized why the movie is great although it lacks the action in Vol. 1. Always, it’s the story that counts.
RATING: 8/10
Shrek 2.
Better than the first. This time they finally spoofed LOTR (twice). Among my favorite characters is Puss in Boots.
RATING: 8/10
