Home Video Reviews (June)
Here are the short reviews of movies that I saw some weeks ago in home video.

Saw II
I like the first one so I rented this but I have to say that the first Saw is still better. The only reason I’m into this is the gore and the twist at the end of the movie plus a chance to see Jigsaw longer than the first one. 6/10.
FlightPlan
This is a thriller that spends half of the movie looking for a child. And when I found out where Jodie Foster’s daughter is, I’m not surprised nor intrigued. Typical conspiracy ek ek. BTW, Sean Bean (Boromir in LOTR) is here too! For me, Red Eye is still the best ‘airplane’ thriller with strong performances from Cillian Murphy and Rachel McAdams. 6/10.
Nanny McPhee
I’m a little disappointed on how this movie turned out. It looked good in previews but when I finally saw it, it isn’t as clever as uhmmm…Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events. The first few minutes was boring and the director doesn’t seem to know if this movie is supposed to be funny or spooky or kid-friendly or adult-friendly. Ewan. The best performance came from baby Aggy and the worst came from a donkey! Puh-lease…ayoko na maalala yung donkey scene na yun. On the plus side, crush ko yung babaeng gumanap na Evangeline.:) There are some funny moments too so I’m gonna give it a 6.5/10.
Wedding Crashers
Rachel McAdams! Whoooo! Like The 40-year-old Virgin, this comedy has a heart. No wonder why it won the Best Movie at this year’s MTV Movie Awards. Isla Fisher’s character is the funniest in this movie. But watch out…R-18 pala ‘to. Akala ko kasi PG-13 lang. Hehe… 7.5/10
King Kong (1933)
At last I’ve seen the original movie in which Peter Jackson based his remake. The special effects were mind-blowing given that it was released almost 70 years ago. Now, I can appreciate Peter Jackson’s remake more because some of the lines that were spoken in the 2005 movie were lifted directly from the 1933 film (And camera angles too!). 8.5/10
Zathura: A Space Adventure
I don’t know why it didn’t play well at the box-office but I found this movie to be highly entartaining. This is another Jumanji movie but I can’t compare which one is better kasi nakalimutan ko na yung Jumanji. There’s a plot twist that I never saw coming so I was a little surprised. (Meron rin ba sa Jumanji?) Anyway, we have coined a new term after watching this movie…”Zathurahan” as opposed to “Brokeback-an”. You have to see it para malaman kung ano meaning nun. 8/10
Brokeback Mountain
Speaking of “Brokeback-an”, kaya ko lang sya hiniram is because of curiosity. I’m not the type kasi na madalas manood ng mga award-winning films. The #1 reason I go to movies is to be entartained and not to cry/be enlightened/be preached etc etc. (pangalawa lang yun) Rare lang ang mga films na napapanood ko na ganito and usually they’re all good. Brokeback is no exception. I’ve seen Crash months ago and I agree that Brokeback Mountain should have won the Best Picture Oscar because it’s better! Heath Ledger gave a wonderful performance as a man that has a difficulty in expressing himself. And as the tagline says: “Love is a force of nature”, love is universal…ano man ang kasarian mo. Nakakadiri sa una yung mga kissing scenes but later on you feel their passion…how they miss each other so much. Naiisip ko nga sila before ako matulog nung gabing yun e….stick talaga sa utak yung movie. Galing! 9/10
Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit
I like Chicken Run so much that I really wanted to see W & G on the big screen last October. It became my instant favorite.

Papanoorin ko Flight Plan pag may time. Favorite ko kasi si Jodie Foster. May hula ako sa Zathurahan. Siguro dalawang babae naman na nag-k-kiss? Hehe, dunno. Pati ‘yung Chicken Run, tawang-tawa ako du’n, I like their accent too. Mala-Mission Impossible/Escape from Alcatraz pa ‘yung plot. :>

naks! nag-marathon ka pala eh..
Saw 2.. i don’t like gore but not bec. hindi ko kaya (manhid na ko) pero dahil hindi ko lang talaga trip yung mga ganun siguro. did not see 1 and 2 but my friend also liked the first more.
Nanny McPhee.. yep, I was disappointed too. sa trailers mukhang nakakatawa nga yung donkey pero nung nakita ko na sa movie.. i was like.. what the..?
King Kong.. hindi ko nakita yung original but i have to confess: i hated Jackson’s version. ayoko lang talaga kay King Kong siguro… hehe!
BBM.. wala talaga kong planong panoorin to eh pero dahil you gave it a 9 baka humiram na rin ako ng copy. hehe..
W&G.. this too. don’t get me wrong coz i like the two characters pero parang na-kornihan ako sa trailers. isa pa.. nung time na yun eh hindi pa ko movie adik kuno. try ko na rin hiramin siguro kasi highly recommended mo eh..
thanks for the reviews. more than 1 week na nga kong hindi nanonood sa sinehan kasi mukhang wala na talagang maganda. Superman Returns na lang talaga siguro hinihintay ko. you just gave me ideas what to watch while I’m waiting for it.

Skwayred:
Di ba yung Crash masyadong siniksik lahat ng isyu about racism etc.
Jong:
Manghiram ka na lang sa Video City. Wala akong kopya e.
Little Wolf:
Watch it with subtitles kasi minimurmur lang ni Heath Ledger yung lines nya.
British humor at its best!

ah.. yun pala Zathurahan. ikaw talaga.. hihihi!
