LOCAL MOVIES…

I hate local movies. Not in the sense that I hate ALL of them but rather most of them. It doesn’t look cool enough. Siguro kulang sa hype. Imagine, studios promoting their films 2 weeks before the release?

The first film I saw in theaters was “Magic to Win” / “Happy Ghost” (1991) starring Kris Aquino and a dog that turns into a human being. I’ve also seen Darna (with Anjanette Abayari) with my father. Pero I swear hindi ako manonood uli ng local film sa theaters unless I was required to do so in school and they’ve improved the film’s sound and picture quality.

We just have to wait for a producer to invest a large money for a very big budget Filipino movies that will surely entice Pinoy audiences. Not just romantic comedies, cheap teen flicks featuring talent search show winners, heavy dramas and films that have a title of places (Dubai, Milan etc.) and titles with the word “love”. Kaso nga lang, tuwing MMFF lang nalabas yung mga ganito and are surely for the masses.

I want a local film that have the same quality as foreign movies, not just Hollywood. Think of other Asian movies. Maganda yung qualities. Same old sound effects and it doesn’t even maximize the theater sound system. The camera works are all the same. Para makatipid siguro, many of the scenes were shot using a single camera (walang ibang angle) kaya hindi makita yung mga mukha ng artista pag nag-uusap.

ComSci course ko e and I don’t even own a camera. Kahit sa cellphone…huhuhu…
