Y TU STEPFORD VILLAGE REDEMPTION: HUNT FOR THE MEAN INCREDIBLE DODGEBALL ROBOT GIRLS (MOVIE REVIEW)

Anacondas: hunt for the Blood Orchid (ba yun?) 4/10
A typical monster movie full of cliches. Tapos ang konti pa gn exposure ng anaconda. Very predictable.
Stepford Wives 6/10
I haven’t seen the original version so I like this one. But it lack something that I can’t describe…
Shawshank Redemption 9.5/10
One of the best movies I’ve seen. Truly inspiring. It was released in 1994 pero ngayon ko lang napanood. I was just intrigued to see this on IMDB’s Top 250 Films on no. 2 spot after Godfather and before Return of the King so I tried to see it. And yun nga, I ended up recommending this to my schoolmates. Brilliant acting from Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman (bakit laging ganito role ni Morgan Freeman?). Just a trivia…the man who played Capt. Byron Hadley is also the man behind the voice of Mr. Eugene Krabs.
Y Tu Mama Tambien 8.5/10
This film HAS a message. It’s vulgar and there are 5 MAJOR sex scenes. At sa maniwala kayo o hindi, I got the copy from Ailen! Heheh…I’ve been looking for this title before so malaking pasalamat ko kay Ailen dahil nakakuha ako ng kopya. After recommending this to my classmates, we call those scenes as follows:
1. Yung simula
2. The Passport
3. The one about the shampoo
4. The one in the car
5. The climax
Of course, it’s not the sex scenes and frequent male genital and breast exposures that matter. It has a story to tell. Alfonso Cuaron really did a great job in here. No wonder why he was chosen for Harry Potter 3.
Mean Girls 8/10
A very funny movie. It’s about girl world and laugh myself out while watching it. This is Lindsay Lohan’s best since Freaky Friday. Though I don’t like her much as a singer.
I always thought that the girl who played Karen Smith (”She is one of the dumbest girls you will ever meet.”) is really dumb in real life. I think she deserve a recognition for portraying a dumb girl.
Feng Shui 9/10
An excellent horror film. I’m giving it 9/10 (that’s in Pinoy standard). Chito Rono has created a horor masterpiece. Nakakaulat talaga yung mga scenes na dapat ikagulat and the plot is good. So it’s like, if I were born in the year of the Tiger, I might die after swallowing Lion Toger Katol o baka naman kalmutin ako ng pusa namin.
My only minor complaint is the quality of the sound. Mukha talagang dubbed ang dialogues. Pati yung sound effects ay halatang staged. Bakit ba hindi natin makuha ang quality ng sound ng Hollywood? Hindi ba natin kaya? O tipid sa budget lang? Tsaka some of the scenes are shot using one camera only. Hindi mo tuloy makita yung mga itsura ng mga artista e. Tipid ba tayo sa camera of minamadali ang shooting?
At saka, halatang gaya yung iba sa Japanese horror films.
Anyway, okay naman.
The Incredibles 9/10
Well, what can I say? It’s an incredible movie. Pixar has made a film for adults too. It’s 2 hours long and is presented in 2.35:1 aspect ratio, the first animated film to be in that format. It has lot of spoofs from recent superhero movies and it’s a great family movie. At last! Animation na tao naman ang bida at hindi bugs, ants, toys or fish. Kelan ba ang part 2?
Dodgeball 7/10
Parang touching ball pala ‘tong Dodgeball….
I, Robot 7.5/10
Awesome special effects. Sonnie the main robot here used the same animation technique for Gollum. This film is about the three laws of Robotics. Basta yun na yun. Nakalimutan ko na yung iba e.
The Village 7/10
What can you expect from M. Night Shaymalan’s (tama ba spelling?) The Village? Another surprise ending? Not this time. The twist is at the middle and it’s not a horror movie with supernatural beings. The trailer tells us that it is but it is not. The trailer is just a marketing strategy. I know that some critics hated it because they were fooled by the trailer.
Sa akin, okay lang. As long as you don’t expect something surprising, you’ll like this one.
