SPIDERMAN 2 MOVIE REVIEW

At last!
The movie was awesome! It is the best comic book movie I’ve seen so far. Far better than the first. The movie has it all. Action, drama, romance and a little bit of comedy. The plot is interesting and the twist near the end of the movie makes me wanting for more. I’d like to say that this movie has a respectable cinematography. The images of Spiderman swinging from building to building is so breathtaking that it will stick to your mind forever. I just love the way the cars fly. It’s amazing. (Especially when Doc Ock has just come out from the hospital). Hindi lang siya basta car na lumipad basta it’s a different way na you wonder how they achieved that shot. These and many more images fascinated me. And this is just one of the reason why I love LOTR so much. The technical aspect of it, the cinematography etc. Anyway, this is a Spiderman review not LOTR….

I can’t wait for the 3rd sequel. Now, I understand why director Sam Raimi is really pressured on writing the third movie.
WARNING: POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD
The visual effects have improved. Unlike the first Spiderman, you can pinpoint a CGI thing. Here, it doesn’t matter. You hardly notice it. There is enough time for story and character development and it is not boring to watch. The opening sequence or the title sequence is very nice because it summarizes the first movie in a comic book way. The train sequence is definitely a sure winner for next year’s MTV Movie Award for Best Action Sequence. The scene is not only full of action but also heartwarming specially when the people in the train show their support for Spiderman. I just wonder what will happen to Harry Osborn. Now that he found out that his father is Green Goblin, magre-revenge pa kaya siya kay Peter? I think he will….he could be the next Goblin (panget naman kung Green Goblin nanaman ang villain) or basta aawayin na nya si Peter. I don’t know what will happen next. I’m not a comic book reader.

Anyway, I’m gonna give this movie 9.5 out of 10. Why minus 0.5? Ba’t di ko pa gawing 10? Yeah…I’d love to…but I just can’t give it a 10 because masyado siyang malapit sa LOTR (11/10)? kung ginawa kong 10 eto….but I think I’ll give na lang the 10 to The Passion of the Christ (POTC, coincidentally refers to Pirates of the Caribbean too)….hagulgol talaga ako in that movie….I can allow ‘Passion’ to get close to LOTR.

RATING: 9.5 / 10
scale: Lord of the Rings –> 11 / 10

[…] Is Spider-Man 3 worth the wait? Of course it is! I don’t really care kung gaano kami katagal pumila sa sinehan bago makapasok, what’s important is that finally, napanood ko na ang Spider-Man 3. So, first day ng showing, ang daming tao sa G4. Anyway, I immensely enjoyed the movie. It has loads of action sequences na parang mas marami pa kesa sa pinagsamang 1 and 2 plus the fact na there are actually 3 villains in the movie. These action sequences make this movie big…as in BIG. I read a review awhile ago citing that “those who flock to the theatres to watch Spiderman will chatter about how great the movie was. The terminology is wrong: it’s not great. It’s just big.” Well, I certainly agree to that statement because personally, I believe that the second one is much better than this one. Yes, I do enjoy the action sequence but the overall feeling that I felt after watching Spider-Man 2 is different. The main weakness of the film is having three different villains. Mahirap isiksik sa film yung tatlo. Tama na sana yung isa or dalawa…pero tatlo? We’re just continuing where we left off in the last movie. It’s the writer’s way of putting Harry away from Peter para si Venom at Sandman muna ang pakialaman natin. And because Danny Elfman, didn’t return to score this film, I have a minor gripe against composer Christopher Young. I do hate his score. It’s a mess. Tsk tsk. One more thing pa pala about the humor. Parang out of place lang talaga. It leaves you wanting for more. Pero ang nakuha ko with Spider-Man 3…literally…MORE kaya medyo letdown.  Spider-Man 2 is the most entertaining comic book ever put into film and is universally well-loved by critics. I don’t think of the same way in Spider-man 3. Pero overall, worthy naman sya of a second viewing and hopefully an IMAX experience… RATING: SPIDER-MAN 3: 8 SPIDER-MAN 2: 9.5 SPIDER-MAN 1: 8 […]
